Invertebrate Waltz Update

The scale of things I want to do now is so much larger than it ever used to be. Sometimes I work on projects for a whole week and feel like there's been no progress at all, but that just comes with working on more complex projects! I think about my work a lot more seriously than I used to, and that means taking more time to get things right.

I've been thinking about Invertebrate Waltz again lately. Every time I come back to that project I have two distinct feelings: 1. It might be *really good*. 2. It's *not done.* Not even close. The demos are not at all where I want them to be. To clarify- the songs are *done* (baring some slight lyrical tweaks and polish) and everything is fully playable as a simple solo piano/vocal experience. However, the bigger, more ambitious mixes took a back seat while I finished and released The Queen of Time.

I feel much more prepared for the journey that comes next. When I worked on the Queen of Time, everything was new and exciting, but I had *no clue* what the timeline would look like, and how long things would actually take once I started to involve multiple people. I think, as a solo artist, getting more experienced hands and ears on your project only makes things better- but I'm glad that I now have the experience of seeing a project all the way through to the end.

Working on the Inv. Waltz demos, I'm struck by how *rough* they really are- and I'm reminded how far the songs on The Queen of Time came from their demos to their finished forms. Even though the vast majority of the individual tracks and sounds on QoT came straight from the demos, the mixing adjustments and polishing process that John and I went through really brought the best out of it. I'm so grateful for that process, and I'm excited to go through it again with Inv. Walz someday!
